Dagger and sword tattoos

A blade is a classic tattoo shape, and it still reads clearly at almost any size. This collection gathers our dagger and sword tattoos in two moods. One is fine linework that stays discreet on a wrist, an ankle or the inside of the forearm. The other is darker and vertical, drawn to follow the spine, sit between the shoulder blades or run down the calf.
Daggers, swords and their companions
Daggers come in thin floral lines or in ornamental blackwork, sometimes with a snake coiled around the grip. Swords show up alone, small and medieval or snapped in two, and in pairings: driven through a heart, crossing a butterfly, or set beside a Japanese mask. Short blades suit a first tattoo. Long ones need room.
What the blade means to the people who wear it
Plenty of people who pick a dagger tie it to courage, or to something hard they made it through. A sword piercing a heart is usually read as heartbreak survived rather than heartbreak itself. The meaning stays yours.
On in two minutes, blue-black in two days
Press the design firmly with a damp sponge, peel the paper, then keep the spot away from water and rubbing for 8 hours. It looks faint at first, which is normal. Over 24 to 48 hours the jagua color builds in the top layers of your skin until it reaches blue-black. From then on it's waterproof and wears for up to two weeks, a little less on hands, fingers and feet. No PPD in the formula, and it's vegan. Temporary dagger and sword tattoos are also a smart way to test a placement: our guide on trying a tattoo before you commit covers size and spot.
