A compass tattoo is one of the easiest designs to wear small. This collection sticks to clean, graphic designs that read well in blue-black: compass roses, minimalist crossed-arrow designs, celestial compasses, and a few built around a map or the North Star.
Roses, needles and night skies
The compass rose leads the range. Some are bold and filled in. Others are drawn with cardinal points and thin geometric rays, so the north mark stands out even at a small size. Want less? Minimalist compasses strip it back to a few clean lines and crossed arrows. Celestial versions swap the dial for an arrow, a crescent moon and a scatter of stars.
Blackwork, geometric and minimalist styles cover most of the shelf, in XS to S formats. That scale suits the inner wrist, the ankle, the back of the neck or the spot just under the collarbone. Planning a bigger travel story? Add something from our travel tattoos, or line up a few pieces from arrow tattoos along the forearm.
From pale to blue-black
The print is made with jagua ink, which develops in the top layer of your skin instead of sitting on it. You press it on with a damp sponge for about 30 seconds, and the whole thing is done in under two minutes. Don't judge it yet. It goes on faint, then darkens over the next 24 to 48 hours until it reads like real ink. Give it 8 hours away from water and friction. From then on, it's waterproof: showers, laps in the pool, a sweaty run. On the forearm or shoulder it lasts up to two weeks, while fingers and hands lose it faster.
Most people read a compass as direction, or a way back home; our compass tattoo meaning guide goes deeper. Have initials, a date or the coordinates of a place you love in mind? We can print your own design as a custom tattoo (minimum order of three).
