Dark tattoos

Skulls, reapers, devils and things that grin in the dark: this is where every shadowy design in the shop comes together. Our dark tattoos are printed with jagua ink that develops in the upper layers of the skin, so once the color has come through, most people will take them for the real thing.
Pick your darkness
- Skull tattoos, from clean line drawings to heavily shaded blackwork.
- Skeleton tattoos for a bare-bones look on the hand, wrist or forearm.
- Grim reaper tattoos: hooded figures, scythes and deep shadows.
- Devil tattoos, horns and tails included, plus angel-and-devil pairings.
- Evil tattoos with creepy grins, sinister eyes and horror-movie energy.
- Gothic tattoos for crosses, moons and a darker kind of romance.
Styles run from fine line and sketch to bold blackwork and sumi-e-style brushwork. Small pieces fit a wrist, a finger or the spot behind the ear; larger ones need room on the forearm, shoulder or upper back, which is also where the color holds out longest. On hands, fingers and feet, expect a shorter run: those areas get scrubbed and rubbed constantly.
Timing it right
Halloween is the obvious excuse, but dark tattoos earn their keep all year: a gig, a festival, a themed party, or a trial run before permanent ink. Application takes 2 minutes max. The design looks pale at first and darkens to blue-black over 24 to 48 hours, so put it on a day or two before the big night. Keep water and friction away for the first 8 hours; after that, it's waterproof and lasts up to 2 weeks. No PPD, no needles, and if a design doesn't reveal, InkCheck™ has you covered.
